'41 Instrument Cluster

Sounds like the 41 is similar to the 46-48 Plymouths as far as the colored speedometer light. I don't know if it will help any, but David Maxwell has some information toward the bottom of his home page that might be of interest:

I am rebuilding the insturment cluster on my '41. I have a few questions. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The speedometer sweep is made from clear plastic that transmits light so that it glows (even in color!) at night. The plastic is very yellow and does not glow any more. Does anyone have a source for reproduction speedometer sweeps?

The back plate on the panel is painted white to reflect the insturment bulb lights. The current paint color is ivory. Was the paint originally ivory or was it white and has now just yellowed with age?

The lower panel bulbs are in a "cage" that is wraped with a small piece of thin frosted plastic (like gel used on theater lights) the color of the plastic sheet is blue. Was the original plastic blue or was it clear (frosted)?

It is hard to tell original colors after they have faded as much as these. The panel itself looks gray, but the painted areas hidden from light indicate it was originally a light brown.
