Thank you Pat for that welcome and the helpful information. I would love to see a picture of your 1936 Plymouth. I have always wanted an antique car because they are beautiful, so this is a thrill for me. mike

36 Ply

Mike-

Welcome to the POC forum. I had a tired '47 Plymouth 4 door in high school (1962). It cost $15 bucks. A bit later, I had a '48 4 door. I discovered that the 47 had a fuse on the headlight switch and the '48 had a circuit breaker. I believe there are a few more minor changes between the two, but I can't remember what they were.

I wish I had my '48 now.

Regards,

Pat O'Connor

P.S. I add 4 oz. of Instead-O-Lead and 6 oz. of Marvel Mystery Oil to every tank of 87 octane unleaded gas. It may not help, but it can't hurt. My '36 runs great on this diet, now that I have solved my vapor locking problem.

Your wiper switch should be where Go says . as for being able to use unleaded Walter P must have known something , as far as i am aware all Chrysler products were fitted with hardened valve seats from the start. i know that the 37 i used to own , the 39 and 54 that i have now ,have them

48 Plymouth 4door super deluxe sedan, good restoration. This is my first antique car. Very thrilling, love at first sight, but I sure do need some advice. I am not sure if I have hard or soft valves. Where I got the car from, said I do not need to add a lead adative to the gas. They said regular gas and sometimes premium gas would be fine. Is this true? Can I just use regular gas, or would it be better to always use premium? Also I would like to know what would be the best oil to use? I understand that I need to change the oil and filter after 1500 miles. Not sure where to buy the new filter? Still can not find the knob to turn on the windshield wipers? I sure love this car, it starts right up and drives beautifully. I hope to get a picture up here if I can figure out how to do it. Hope I can hear from others who love these beautiful cars and get some advice so I can care well for my beauty. mike
