Ok,here are my two Plymouths. The 48 is my semi-daily driver. If I ever get the rebuild of the darn thing finished,it will be my daily driver. Until I finish my 42 Dodge business coupe,that is. I suspect the P-15 will get sold then. Can't drive them all.

Here is my 33 Plymouth PD coupe. As you can tell,it needs a little work before it reaches daily driver status. It's getting a 6 carb DeSoto hemi,push button 727,and 8-3/4 rear from a 62 Dart.

Thanks for posting the additional picture.

That's from the days when cars were cars and all the driveshafts knew it. I tell people that real cars have round headlights.

Some of my other more memorable cruisers were: '68 Olds Delmont 88 with the 455 engine (and bias ply tires and drum brakes all around!)

'75 Plymouth Gran Fury

'79 Ford LTD II (351 2bbl, the worst excuse for a cruiser that the IL state police ever purchased; they would top out at 85-90 mph)

'80 Dodge St Regis (hands down the most comfortable cruiser I ever drove)

'83 Dodge Diplomat 318 (it took a lickin' and kept on tickin'. It's only fault was a rather short wheelbase).

'88 Chevy Caprice (because it was the one I was driving when I retired. It was also a pretty decent ride overall).

I was a trooper here in VA for 2 years (96-97) before I went into federal law enforcement and that car was in service from 1972-78 at the same station I worked at so its been a labor of love trying to get that car done-it was barely a parts car when I found it in 1999.? ?It's a #s matching 440 HP car and has the A/C cutoff switch on the dash (all K-code Mopar police cars should have it) extra bracing in the roof for a light rack, coolers for everything, the springs look like theyre from a Ram 3500, and mine is an early '72 car so it has a leftover '71 440 Six Pack block and 906 casting heads (instead of the lower compression 452 heads that came on most '72s)? Its also one of the '71-72 cars that has a Holley 4bbl instead of a Carter Thermoquad.? All the police equipment that I have on it is correct and documented by the VSP.

When I was an IL state trooper (1969-93), we got a new cruiser every two years for a while. I had a '71 Plymouth Fury II, then a '73 Dodge Polara.

One of the troopers on my shift got a dark blue (unmarked) '72 Fury II. What I recall about his car is that the silver started to come off the inside rear view mirror (probably a supplier issue), and that it had a toggle switch under the dash, to disconnect the A/C for pursuits.

My '71 Fury II had the 440 engine; it would go like a bat out of hell, but if you made a quick U-turn, it would stall. Factory reps modified the carb, taking care of that problem.

I try to take my 30U out onece a week if it's nothing but riding around the neborhood. I have tryed to post pictures on this site but had no sucsess. I enjoy seeing other peoples cars and reading the adventures they have looking for parts, So keep it up

It has been approx six months since Mark first posted the opportunity for POC members to give a short story about their Plymouths and have that and a few photos posted on the club website. The last one posted was John Pingree's 1940 Business coupe on Dec 14th.

Seems like very few POC members are taking advantage of such a neat offer

Glad to see another Plymouth is going to be added.

Mark your ride is looking great.? I had a Valiant Station Wagon back in the early 70?s.? I think it was a 65 but I?m not sure.? I was doing contracting work back then and a customer gave me the car instead of the cash he owed me.? Anyway you just couldn?t kill this car.? We used it as a work vehicle and I don?t think we ever actually changed the oil just kept adding new.? Well anyway the car would always start and never failed us.? When my wife and I went on our honeymoon in 1973 some kids trashed the car.? I left it parked in an industrial area and if I hadn?t I would probably still be driving it today.?

The reason I parked it in the industrial area was because it was the only place I could leave it, due to alternate side of the street parking regulations.? Most of the paint was sandblasted dull by a trip through a desert storm when the original owner drove it to NY from California.? It kind-a looked like a derelict car so I guess the kids felt it would be fun to smash it.?

Anyway as far as I am concerned the Valiant was a great car.

I got two more rides to add - I am running a bit late this weekend - will get them up on Monday or late today. I am working on my own 1965 Valiant and hope to drive it at least a few times before the snow flies.

The fenders are painted (first coat) now and I will have more photos up later in the week. You can see all the work done so far at this link.

I think this is a great idea as well. Like Lindsay, I submitted photos for the recent membership roster, but when they called and said it could be mine for a mere $100, I respectfully declined. I guess because I didn?t order one, my photos were not used when the book was printed.

Great to see that this new area is working and that there are no "strings attached". What I am refering to is the latest copy of the POC roster. I took the time to take, print and send photos in for this publication to find out at a later time that it was going to cost me somewhere around a hundred dollars to ever see them! :-\
To this date, I still do not know if my name, text or photos ever made it.
So, I simply refer back to the old roster, January/February of 2000 when this information, and the roster was included with your dues. I never would have sent photos and information as before to fatten the wallet of that publishing company.... Simply my two cents worth, not meaning to ruffle anyones feathers or to down play the time and efforts that so many people put into this club.

I have been having some discussion with the officers about the web site. I was out looking at the WPC site and they have a member's rides section. I would like to add that to the existing site. I need help.
