Overdrive instead of Fluid Drive

I just picked up an overdrive unit with an exceptionally long input shaft and throw out bearing collar. The input is much longer than a fluid drive transmission and the release bearing has an extended support casting. After a few measurements and some heavy thinking, I realized what this is. Its use allows the removal of the fluid coupling and the substitution of a standard flywheel without changing the bellhousing or any of the linkages to standard items.  If a person wanted to delete the fluid drive in favour of a standard clutch, this unit would do the job without a major tearup. In fact, it could be done in a matter of hours.

Regrettably from the point of view of one of our members, it will not do the job on a Hydrive car.   I know Plymouth was never burdened with Fluid Drive but there must be someone who is into Chrysler products who has seen a similar unit. It is definitely a conventional 3 speed with Borg Warner OD which most of us are familiar with except for the input shaft, throw out bearing and support collar. I have not opened it up to see if it uses the pin-type synchronizers.  Does anyone know if this came as an assembled unit or if the input apparatus was part of a Fluid drive delete kit which was  retro fitted to a standard transmission?
