The PT50 DOES NOT have a P4 engine - never did.  It had its own engine code T50......no such thing either as a P13 engine.  My guess is he read it wrong.  P23 maybe - that would fit with the 1950 casting date (P23 used in 1951-52 production).  Marine/Industrial engine would have an IND engine code.....

Being a 37 PT50 it should have a P4 engine. Like Tod says the P13 engine # is odd, although from my understanding Plymouth did make a marine and also a industrial version of their flathead, the industrial version was used to power combine harvesters etc even a tractor, could it have been repowered with one of these engines,

9207112 one of 1,513 PT50 (or the export PT50X) "commercial cars" built in the 1937 model year at the Los Angeles plant. See my serial/VIN number page at:

http://www.ply33.com/Misc/vin

The P13118118 engine number is odd. In much of the 1930s the standard/roadking models had an odd engineering code (P5, P7, P9, P11, etc.) while the deluxe had an even engineering code number (P6, P8, P10, P12, etc). However the last year for that was 1941 with P11 and P12. The 1942 engineering codes were P14S (DeLuxe Six) and P14C (Special Deluxe Six). And the engines for both of those started with P14. So your P13 engine number sounds odd to me.

The A10 17 50 embossed on the engine might be a production date. I does not look like a part number or engine number.

Tag # firewall 9207112 ......... numbers on motor P13118118-17? ......... embossed # on motor A10 17 50. Can some one give me production numbers, build location, and other information relating to PU?
I met a fellow? at a car show yesterday in Wasco Ca that stated he had a 1934 Plymouth PU. I went to his house and it turned out to be a PT50 model ,although the pink it is identified as a 1934.
It has a great, clean strait? body. Someone has removed the windshield frame and replaced with a flat glass. He said he had driven it but had never driven anything that old and had a problem with shifting gears, I explained the necessity of double clutching (to the best my memory could serve me, been to long).
He also said someone had changed to 12 volt system, the foot operated starter had also been removed and a key start system installed.
I gave all the the information for joining the Club (actually the membership application from last Bullletin) and the link to this site.
He wants to restore it to its original glory.?
There was a 37 Dodge Brothers at the show which I showed him, man was it ever a beauty. Dumb me left my camera at home.
I hope he Joins and makes use of all the talent and knowledge of this club. I joined about 20+ years ago and have enjoyed it. I no longer have the P8 Special Deluxe that I owned when I joined but, I have a 39 Ply PU Hotrod with a hemi that is (total HOTROD) I have two other 39s and a 41 that have supplied many, many parts to people restoring theirs. One member bought a 39 motor and had it shipped to Maryland, He has a beautiful truck.
Sorry about the long post, but would likr to have the Info. Wayne
