Headbolt Replacement

My head bolts are stockers, but I did test fit a set of ARP bolts.  They fit fine.  You would have to contact ARP to get the correct number of the right lenght, but it can be done.  You won't ever find a better quality set of bolts or studs than ARP.  I used their head studs and main studs on my 340 in my truck and they worked great.

I think the bolts Bernbaum sells are the same bolts.  They are excellent quality bolts and will do the job. I just did not like being told they were specially made for our cars.

I replaced the head bolts on my '37 this fall. Ordered from Andy Birnbaum. He sent me 1/2" head size bolts also. Went ahead and used them. So far no problems. Put a little over 100 miles on before I had to park for the winter.

I recently purchased new headbolts from Vintage Power Wagon for my '41 engine .? I was told the bolts (the non-tapped variety) were no longer available so Vintage Power Wagon, "Bit the bullet and fronted the money to have reproduction headbolts manufactured for our customers."? This is an exact quote from the person who answered the phone.

When the bolts arrived, they were nothing more than head bolts for a small block chevy V-8 that are readily available at most parts stores. I even checked the the logo on the heads of the bolts and found? it was the same as those I can get locally.? Also the bolts have a 1/2" head instead of a 11/16" head.

I have gotten several items from Vintage Power Wagon and found everything to be of excellent quality. I just like to know when I talk to someone they are telling me the truth... and saying "We bit the bullet and had headbolts manufactured for our customers" is more than a stretch.
