1940 Frame Parts

39 and 40 suspensions are very similar. If you find a 39 frame/crossmember it may be able to patch things in. Beyond that, this is the kind of car that make great street rods  :)

According to the Plymouth factory parts book, the 1940 frame and front crossmember both have part numbers unique to 1940. The different part numbers doesn't necessarily mean other parts aren't the same or won't work. Unfortunately I am not knowledgeable on the various frames. You might want to pose your question over at http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/. That group is very knowledgeable about Plymouths, Dodges and Mopar in general. Check it out, you may find the help you need there.

    I posted a question about the frame on our car.  The one for the 1941 Frame Parts.  I found out I was wrond with the year.  I bought this car in sad but restorable condition for my girlfriend.  We both love Antique Cars.  The car has no title but I can get one.  This left me with sombody else's word that the car is a 1941.  After looking around this site som more I found out that we have a 1940.  Our car has "Butterfly" hoods.  They open from the side hinging in the center.  I now have the car home and was able to study the details of the little car.  The front, the grille the chrome moldings all match the photos of a 1940.  I still have the original trouble.  When I got the car on the trailer I found the front crossmember where the lower control arms bolt on are severely rusted away.  The frame rails look good.  I need to find out what other years crossmembers or entire frames are compatable to the 1940 frame we have.  Let's say this is a good learning experience for me.  Glad this POC site is here!  Thanks for the help.
