Hi captbrian   according to the manual you should be using fluid gear lubricant sae90 in your stearing box. as for the level it says, quote, replenish when level is below filler hole ;do not use pressure gun. has your steering box been rebuilt if not you might have to keep an eye on the bottom bush it could be worn  and leak oil        Rex

Don Coatney,
I contacted George Asche about the 3 speed w/overdrive and he is a very helpful and knowledgeable about all things Plymouth. He is not afraid to share his kowledge either. He told me where to locate the stamping designating the gear ratio in the ear end and it is 39. I guess that means I have a 3.90. Although it is high he thinks I'll be ok with the overdrive unit and I can change out the whole pumkin with a lower gear ratio at another time. With everything for the conversion it would be about $1500, but I could drive the car anywhere any time. I would also like to know what type of oil or lube fluid to use in the steering gearbox and how full should it be. When I look in the resevoir I see no oil and I am wondering how much and what to use.
thank you,
Brian Kearney
