I had the same problems with my 31PA. I think it was actually 2 problems. One was a bad condenser that would fail when it got hot. The other one was a piece of something in the gas tank that would float over the gas line intake pipe and stop the gas flow. I only got to drive it a short distance this year and it ran fine. Now I have to wait until next year to really test it since I live in Iowa and winter is nasty. I always drive it with my seatbelt on, a fire extinguisher, a fully charged cell phone, and a tow strap.

Tod,

Again, thanks. I will probably go that route.

My downdraft '33 developed a problem with a miss a year or two ago. No issue with fuel pump or spark so I assumed carburetor. All I did was take it apart and clean everything then put it back together. I didn't even get a kit with gaskets, I was just careful taking things apart and putting it back together. My total cost was a can of carburetor cleaning spray from the local auto supply store. It took care of the problem I was having. I hope your problem will be as easy.

Tod, thanks for the response. At this point, I feel like it must be something to do with the carburetor. Hopefully someone out there has had the same issue.

Maybe some dirt in the carburetor?

I have a Plymouth PA. It has run like a top. Last evening I was driving it, and it began to sputter. Luckily I was close to the house. By the time I hit the driveway, the engine stopped. Tonight I started troubleshooting. I have spark. The fuel pump works. I pulled the bowl and checked the fuel filter. The car turns over but does not fire. The carburetor is a Carter BB-1 Model 245SD. I am a new owner (bought the car three years ago), so I am still on a learning curve. Do the symptoms sound familiar to anyone?
