In addition, it makes it impossible to lock your ignition keys inside your car!
Something that I still sometimes do! :o

Most manufactures only had a passengers side door lock as I was told because they did not want people standing in traffic to unlock a drivers side door. (unlock the door, slide across the seat and hammer down) Not sure what year they started installing on drivers side.
