1935 Plymouth Deluxe Sedan Information needed

What a beautiful car!  I have a 35 PJ Deluxe Sedan, and it is a similar color, though not in as good a shape as yours.  From the owners manual, motor oil is SAE 30 for summer.  For winter, minimum 0 degrees, use 20W oil.  If colder than that, use 10W.  For transmission, use SAE 160 for summer and SAE 90 for winter.  I am in Texas (temps similar to yours), and I use a multi-grade 75-140 in both transmission and differential.

You can find manuals on Ebay or at Faxon Auto Literature.  You need the Owners Manual (also called the Plymouth Instruction Book) for your car, and the Plymouth Master Maintenance Manual.  Also check out Andy Bernbaum Auto Parts online.  They carry a lot of vintage Plymouth parts.

This forum is a great resource, though I am sorry you haven't gotten any replies yet.  We also have a Plymouth Owners Club Facebook page, and a lot of the guys lurk over there now.  Either way, good luck.

Hi all

I recently became the owner of 1935 Plymouth Deluxe Sedan. Long story short, the previous owner was like a grandfather figure for me (51 year age gap between us) and my love for old vehicles started with him. Sadly he past away last year and his Plymouth, which was in his family since 1937 came up for sale and I had to buy it.

The vehicle still in original condition and needs minimum work but I am searching for information with regards to maintaining the car.
Is there any webpages where I can find manuals, and any other information with regards to the car.

I am also planning to do a basic service, oil change, radiator flush, transmission and diff oil change.
I did find a document recommending using SAE 30 oil for the engine, I stay in South Africa and our winters rarely go below 0 deg celsius, but our summers can become very hot. I am considering using a SAE 40 or SAE 50 oil. Is this recommended or should I stay with SAE 30?

Also I am struggling to find what type and grade oil to use for the transmission and diff. Any information would be appreciated.
