I have found the throttle spring supplied in some kits is too short for this era B&B.  Hope this helps

Has anyone rebuilt a carter downdraft 1949 Plymouth D6H1 carburetor. No accelerator pump working. Car idles and runs great if the choke is almost closed. But it will not start after 4 or 5 hours.  I have soaked the bare carb in cleaner and blown air through all the passages. New accelerator pump will not squirt to the venturii.  It doesn't seem that the rod from the base of the carb is pushing the spring of the accelerator pump down far enough for the pump to release and draw fuel to the passage to the venturii. Any one know of the solution. No one in my area knows anything about these old carbs.
