1954 Plaza Suburban

All station wagons in 1954 were two door models.  There were three series – Plaza, Savoy and Belvedere, so the Plaza is the price leader of the three.

And yes, the car could have either a 218 or a 230 engine. The 230 can be identified by a "diamond" symbol in the engine number – P24 ^ 12345 would indicate a 230 --- P24 – 12345 would be a 218.  My computer doesn't do a diamond symbol so I used the ^ to illustrate.

Canadian cars would have the 25" long block engine and I'm not sure how they marked them to indicate a 230 vs. a 218.

There were 35,937 Plaza wagons built – so they were sold in both US and Canada.

The 450 figure is for the Savoy Suburban according to my sources.

I just purchased a 1954 Plaza Suburban - I hope to take delivery of "Martha" next week.

Do I understand from this, that this model of the wagon could only have been built in Canada?

Also, was the 230cid used throughout the model year, or is there a chance Martha could have a 218cid?
