If you can locate a door handle removal tool with the center pin you could insert the tool pin in the hole and slowly insert the handle pin as you withdraw the tool pin.
An example of such a  tool is currently on ebay.

If its possible to recruit a helper, you'll find it easier as a 'three-handed' job........if not, yes, as has been suggested, use a needle-nose pliers, or better, a small magnet. (it can be really embarrassing to fumble with the pliers, and then try to find the little pin)

cheers

Haha I think it just takes a little more manual dexterity to reinstall than it took to get them out. But at least now you understand how it works and to get it lined up. One hand pushing in the escutcheon and the other to drop in the pin. Think that I have used needle nose pliers to hold the pin and put it in the hole. Good luck!
Have owned 3 Plymouths, the first 2 were just cars.....

I am about to remove the door and window handles on my '51 Concord. There was a good post on getting them off. But how about putting them back on. How do you do that? I know it's the opposite of removing them. But it seems that it is more difficult, pushing in while trying to insert the pin. Any suggestions? Thanks
