1951 Concord business coupe u-joints.

Just did the u-joints on the 39. I bought a NOS housing off eBay. Looked just like mine, but it was actually a little bigger. My fault, I didn't check the measurements carefully because I thought they were all the same size. I'd be happy to pass it on to someone who needs one.

If the boots have gone bad you may also get some wear on the inside of the housing.

The used that general style of universal joint from at least 1933 into the early 1960s. As I understand it, they are a bit like a primitive CV joint. Anyway it is not clear to me if they changed the sizes of them for various applications, so it is a good idea to verify that any repair parts are correct for your specific make and year.

I think they are all the same ball and trunion right up into the 50's. It is likely that lack of maintenance has caused wear on the pins. When i took mine apart one end was missing a couple needle rollers and would have caused a problem if I had not checked it.
Have owned 3 Plymouths, the first 2 were just cars.....

I am very pleased with my new drive shaft with well over 2000 trouble free miles on the old Plymouth since I modernized  the drive shaft, the rest of the car is stock

you had better get you a parts book and shop manual, they will each help you out.

there is a man that advertises in the bulletin with a new drive shaft and the modern ends, I bought one from him this Spring, very pleased with it and above all, no more needle bearings and old fashioned u-joints

I think I might be having a problem with u-joints. I get vibration at about 35 to 50 which is about as fast as I drive. I'm wondering if u-joints for this car are any different than other u-joints. Are there particular u-joints for a '51?
