Here is a photo of a 1950 Special DeLuxe doing what it was designed to do,
from about 1955.  The car belonged to my cousin's family.

Looks like it got some '34 (or maybe '35) steel "artillery style" wheels pretty early on. I wonder if they kept the original wire wheels and that is what you have now or if someone acquired them later to put the car back closer to stock.

Hi Tod according to my build card it left the factory with 6 wire wheels but all the early photos show the later artillery's without the water trap around hubcap fitment. The last couple of photos show the wire wheels which are on it now, have added another photo of when Ralph Barnes of THE VETERAN CAR CLUB OF SOUTH AFRICA collected it with his Pontiac that he still has. The wheels were changed back to year correct between 1970/2001, to my knowledge the car has not been roadworthy since pre 1970 when the gearbox lost a tooth.

Nice idea Bob, well done, I have a few photos of my PD, first is thought to be of the original owners, the Grand Parents of the gentleman who sold it to the guy that found it in1970  The second is as found in 1970, it then changed hands a couple of times one of which JB has on record which was useful to confirm the serial#. Next we go to 2002 just before being shipped to the UK ( forgot to mention that the previous history relates to South Africa), we know it was a Detroit build and not a Windsor KD The last is when it arrived in my empty workshop in January 2012. I do have more old Photos which I will add in time.
