Engine pans -- black
Underside hood -- hood color (Robert M Mead)

Robert is correct - engine pans black, underside of hood body color; firewall black regardless of body color (Jim Benjaminson)

Thanks for you help gents.

Thanks Tod, I had looked on your database but not close enough. While on the subject of colours I know the firewall is black but what should the underside of the hood be? Black or Body colour.

I don't know what it should be officially as I've never seen period information nor is it in the more recent judging/model information that I've read.

On later cars I think they painted the individual items before assembly. If done that way, then the back side color would like be the same as the front side and thus the inside of the hood would be body color.

But I wonder if on the pre-1935 cars, especially those with black fenders and splash apron, if they did the body, hood and radiator shell painting after assembly. That would explain the black firewall with the color break at the hood lacing and would imply that the underside of the hood could be black too.

The underside of my hood is body color as that is what made sense to me at the time I was putting the car back together.

Engine colors varied a bit during that era. Here is a table with what I think they should be: http://www.ply33.com/Backmatter/EngineColor

What would be the correct colour combination for the engine trans for 33 to 41 flathead 6. I have a PD, PE and a PT125 all going back to stock.
Thanks Tom
