Thanks for the info.  I am going to change to stainless. I know it is not easy, but I am going to try it.

should have stainless. is available.  comes i straight lengths that must be bend to shape.  Getting the complex curve at the front of the fender where it meets the rocker area is a craftsman's job.  there is stuff available that looks like stainless but is plastic, looks OK but is prone to look wrinkled where tight curves are made.  Austin Healey 3000's used a very similar item, slightly smaller bead but more flexible and easier to bend than the stuff being sold for MOPARs.  You might also check places like the Ford Barn to see if they have metal beaded welting.

while I cannot say 100% if was stock to my car but looked to be a excellent installation..but my Plymouth business coupe had stainless welt on the rear fender and as such will have it going back on regardless of stock or not as the stainless just look at home..could well be a defining part between the low entry Deluxe and the more appointed Special Deluxe. mine is the SD

 I have been told that 46 plym bus coupe should have black fender welt.  I have a few pictures that look original, and appear to show stainless welt.  Which is correct ?
Mine has black, but I would like change it if that is an original option.
