to my understanding.....the 9 inch were deluxe wheel covers..10's were special deluxe and the 10 inch are needed if you wish to run the full size beauty rim on the wheel..the 9 would not cover and secure it proper whereas the 10's did..

SD Glenn - the hubcaps you have on your '39 are the "cheap" cap for the 1952 Plymouths.  The proper '39 cap just has the ship inside the circle.  The caps you have with the rings, etc., match those I have on my '40 which I know from the part numbers are 52s.  Interesting I have a pair of 10" on one side of the car and a pair of 9" on the other side......I was always under the impression the smaller cap went on the cheaper model while the larger cap was used on the deluxe models.  Can't prove that statement but have always believed it to be true......

Yeah, I'm not sure now. lol  I did get 5 matching caps a year ago when I got the car. It had been in storage for 30 + years before that and I don't know what that gent did to the car prior, he died just before they put this one in storage so who knows. Maybe someone else will have a clue.
Thanks

Thanks for the photos!
I've seen some (claimed to be) '39 caps with only a painted embossed center circle like yours without the ridges but not 100% sure.

Lew, attached 3 pictures of my 1939 Roadking Hub Cap and the 15 inch wheel, with a ruler for reference.  I am of the impression that these are the right caps for the 39,  If I am wrong please someone post here. ( looks like I need to do a bit of cleaning up on the inside of the cap, lol,) Are my hub caps right?
Looks like 9 inch over-all with 7 1/4 inside.  Take care

U will find 9" and 10" outside diameter.  The 9" size went on the commercial cars i.e. pickups.

the inside diameter is 7 1/4 inches  from 1937 to 54 the plymouth hub caps would interchange , also 37 to 54 6 cyl dodge desoto and chrysler were the same size, there could be more examples but those are the ones i have or have had.

Lew, I will go out an measure mine as soon as the snow melts away a bit.  I will try dig it out this afternoon.  I do have these hubcaps on mine, however my car has 15 inch wheels (someone changed them in the past life) As most of us did back in the day, it was easier to find 15 inch tires at that time.
Take care,

Would appreciate the inside mounting side diameter of the '39-'40 hubcaps. (the ones with the small red logo). I'd like to see if they would fit some steel wheels other than
for those years. The parts book shows no mounting clips on the wheels themselves.
Thanks.
