Replacement of Stop Light Switch, '54

I had the same success with my 55 Plymouth. Just make sure the Master Cylinder is full of brake fluid before you take out the old brake light switch.

Your luck might vary, but I was able to replace the hydraulic brake light switch on my car without getting the pedal spongy or needing to bleed the system. I just unscrewed the old switch and screwed in the new one. I'm sure that there was a tiny bit of air inside the new switch but I can't feel it on the brake pedal.

Hi Guys,
This may be a dumb question, but I couldn't find any info in the Service Manual, so I need your expert advice.  I want to replace the Stop Light switch on my '54 Belvedere, but bleeding the brakes is something I've never been able to master, so my question is "If I just unscrew, remove, and replace my Stop Light Switch, do I have to Bleed my brakes?"   ???
I figure that as long as I don't push on the brake pedal, and maybe dip the replacement switch in some fresh brake fluid before I install it, I won't need to worry about bleeding the brake.
Any help will be most appreciated.  Thanks.
