1955 plymouth belvedere front brakes

If you don't already have one, do yourself a favor, and get an "original" Service Manual for your 1955 Plymouth!!!!  I know for my '54 Belvedere, for the Front Brakes, you must set the "Eccentric Anchor Bolts" with the "arrows" pointing towards the opposite cylinder.  There are specific instructions on how to adjust these brakes, and to be safe, you need to read and understand the Service Manual's Instructions.  I spent nearly $500 on an old Ammco Brake Gauge just so I do fix my car's brakes properly.  I know my life is worth that much, how about yours?    :o   
It's only hard if you don't have the right tools, and the best info you can get!

are the wheel cylinder actuating rods (the pieces that push the shoe) the correct length?  Some folks have mentioned that not all replacement cylinders have the same length hardware, You might want to compare the new to the old and make sure they are in the same neighborhood.  Also the slots in the brake shoes may be deeper.  Either one or both could contribute to insufficient movement of the shoe toward the drum.

Are you working with the major adjustment at the heel of the each shoe or just the major adjustment in the center of the screw?

I have replaced the brake cylinders and brake shoes on the front of this car, the drivers side adjusts fine, but the linings on the passenger side will not make contact with the brake drum.  The brake drum itself was originally 11 inch and is now .062 or 1/16 inches oversize.  A local mechanic says that the adjusting cams may be worn down, but that doesn't sound right to me...any ideas/suggestions?  Much appreciated.  Ole
