No, the tires are not right. Back in the late 1950s and early 1960s most of us (me included) put 15 inch rims on any car we had, that had 16 inch rims originally.  At that time 15 inch tires were so much easier to get, and cheaper also, and you could find good used tires. I would guess that is what happened here also. I am pretty sure the upholstery job was done about that time also, with the type of material used and the style. So, these tires (and upholstery) will remain with the car, either till they wear out, or I get tired of them. or come into a big inheiritance. lol
Thanks,

The car is looking good. Hope you have some great rides this summer.  Are those tires stock size?

Cheers

Hey Bob, here is a couple pictures of my 39 Roadking. The only changes are the bumpers are off, I am going to paint it in the next couple weeks before I put them back on . Just trying to decide if I want Black, or a two tone. Probable end up Black, with all the chrome it should stand out pretty good.
I see why you are out driving around a lot, I suppose the 39 drives about the same as yours. It is a real pleasure to drive, so quiet and smooth, hard to believe.  I do hear a rattle in the engine I have to check out, but it runs great.
The Ice is out and the fish are biting.

You might want to pull the valve covers off and clean the gunk out of there too.

Got the pan off, it is about 1 1/2 inches deep in muck, the sump screen is pretty much plugged up. I think I might just put in oil seals and clean up the crankcase, check the brgs, and put it back together, see how it runs.

Since this is not a military plymouth.........
I have gotten the brakes up to par, and they now work great. I have replaced the windshields and door windows, along with the weather stripping and all the seals for the windows (from Andy), they all fit perfectly.  I wanted to get the engine running before I decided how far I was going to go with this one. However, to get at the engine easily I took the fenders off to replace the Fender welting while I was at it. Of course the bolts all turned, or stripped the nuts, or whatever , all the bolts had to be ground off with a grinder, (almost all)  Then drained the oil, stuck my pinky in the drain hole... there was so much stuff in the oil pan, now I am in the process of taking the engine apart. Sure looks like a mess right now.  I sure hope to get this running by spring. lol
