Hey Guys, Got the tail light finished and the fender back on the car. Turned out very well, could be better, but
that the way it goes. There was very little metal left from the old one. Maybe the second one will be better, there is a bit more metal left.. Pictures attached.
Thanks,

Thanks guys.  I did the sand blast thing and got the tail light apart. Picture attached of what it looked like.  I will post an other picture with the finished product. (If I am not too ashamed of it. lol) I will probable finish today.

once you have removed the bezel and lens , there should be a screw at the the top of the bucket , remove that pull the bucket toward you and lift it up and the bucket should come out .

Thanks Bob, This must be different.  I am going to try sand blasting some of the rust off this (a little) to see if I can get at what ever is holding it.  I got the fender off and on the work bench so it is easy to get at. . lol
Thanks again

I don't know if the '39 is the same as the '40. but on my '40 the taillights come out of the fender by pressing down on the assemby itself and pulling towards the inside of the trunk

Hope this helps,
Bob

I have the 1939 Roadking (P7) .  The tail lights are rotted out, I am going to try rebuild what I have. Only problem, at this time, is how do I get the tail light out of the fender.  No problem with getting the Lens and Chrome bezel off, how do I seperate the rest of it from the fender. The parts I can see (around the outside) of the light looks good, only the bucket parts are gone. There is so much rust I can not make out what to do first, I don't want to ruin any more than I have to. I appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks,
