If you want to set levels, I understand why, I think it should be clear to anyone using this board what level a member is in. If you use car names, only insiders will know how mutch it is worth. If you use car names from the newest to older ones when you rise in level it is hard to understand. There are a lot of members who do not live in the US, using and contributing to this site. I live in The Netherlands. I do not know the type names of new plymouth cars and I do not want to make a study out of it. The suggestion sounds good but make it easy to read. If it has to be car names you could add numbes for the level. An other way is to make it visable on top of each mail.

You have to have groups - at least one - the way boards are set up - remember I am using what someone else made with options.  The way they are set up - tbe longer you have been on the board, the more "power" you have.  Entry level - untill the person makes a few posts and the rest see that it is not just some spammer looking to cause trouble, get his or her website promoted (by putting it in the sig) or just bored young person screwing around - it happens all the time - believe me.

So the entry level can't do things like forward a post to someome, can't email other members etc.  This is for YOUR protection - you don't want someone to sign up just to get email addresses or other information of the ligitmate users.

That is the same reason I have changed the new user activation.  You now have to sign up and hope I can activate you in a reasonable time.  I had it set so you got an email and then you had to reply - the reason for that is it verifys that the email you posted is real - I have had a few people try to get in without a real email - that can't be allowed - we have to know that we are really who we say we are.  I wish everyone was honest - but there are a lot of bad people out there.

Why is it necessary to have "levels"? Who carer?

Listing the date membership began and the number of posts should be enough, and just let people be who they are.

Mopar Al you made me think.  Good point! We all were up to speed on the old boards.

Because I have the power and I like to play with it from time to time - I have decided -----  We are not going to have five user catagories - just two.

When you first login and have no postings - you will be a Starting line user!

Post 10 times and you bump up to Full throttle user!  We drive Plymouths - it should not take a long time to get to full speed --- Right!!

If anyone has a problem with this - well then - you have a problem now don't you!  heheheh  ;D

As for me........ I think the car names, etc are not necessary. I think the Chrysler Penastars says it all.  Now if we have to have car names then the top level would have to be.......... 39 Plym Conv. Coupe....Bill   ;Dl

The Horizon 4dr is the "newbie" level  as you move up you will get more stars and new levels.  When I make a change - it is global - everyone changes.

To move from Horizon Level to Valiant Level you need to make 25 posts.

To move from Valiant Level to Belvedere Level you need to malke 50 posts.

To move from Belvedere Level to Hemi Road Runner Level you need 150 posts.

To move from the Hemi Road Runner Level to Fury VIP Level you need 500 posts.

I am looking to change the stars to Chrysler Pentastars if I can find a clean little one.

You have to have something in the Level title - I did not like Newbie and Member etc.  I agree we are all members.

I think using the word "member" in the level gives the impression of separate membership levels.  Is that what you are looking for or is it really just to denote different levels of posting?

It is very confusing to use car names for members levels.
I strongly suggest just to stick with the number of stars.
I wondered why Jim Benji uses a kind of Avatar text "Horizon 4dr".

A status name seems to be unnecessary to me, the star does it perfectly.

I like the model - but Plymouths

Newbie = Horizon
Valiant Six
Belvedere V8
Road Runner Hemi
Fury VIP

So I am going with that.

Well.....one option would be the "parts" option.  For a "newbie" it might be "Lugnut".? ? And, at the other end of the scale we might use "Hemi engine" in lieu of "Hero Member".......

Or.........we could use Mopar vehicle model names beginning with the newest IE.....something like PT-Cruiser to something more mature like........Cranbrook or Belvedere or New Yorker

Or.........we could just use Mopar vehicle model names based on POC Moderator's choice.........I for one particularly like.........VIPER......but we could certainly use something more middle of the road llike SPECIAL DELUXE or DELUXE or POWER WAGON.? ? You get the point.

Hi again, I have another question - I have a bunch of options with the configuration of this discussion board.  Below is a screen shot of the levels you can reach (depending on how many posts you make here.)

I am looking for new names - they sound kind of lame to me.  One board I visit gives you "On this site to darn much" for the Hero class.  I am starting a constest as of now to 'NAME THE GROUPS"

I will be the sole judge (unless someone complains too much - I don't want fights here) of what the final names will be - if you would be so kind as to think of new ones and post them here or email them to me if you don't want the other's to see your suggestions (I may publish them anyway, one of the good things about being admin hehehe.) ;) ;D ;D
