9.) Theodor Heuss Br?cke (North bridge), 1957, local and Autobahn connection, first inclined rope bridge in the world (vs. curved rope suspension bridge). Same pleasure boat as at #8.

Exactly above the red van, Rheinstadion?s roof is peeking over the trees.

10.) Flughafen Br?cke: 2002 (Autobahn), Cantilever/ rope bridge: because of the airport, high pylones were not possible and they had to substitute high pylones with these wyes.

11.) Ferry Lank - Kaiserswerth is approaching: no bridge, but nearly as good: 2,50 ? for car plus passengers, goes every 15 - 20 minutes if ship traffic allows.

Beautiful Plymouth weekend, I even found time to repair the wiper`s linkage.

6.) Harbour bridge: 2000 (pedestrians and bikes), linking downtown to the Lausward peninsula and public Golf lawns, spans the harbour entrance canal.
(Bridges 6,7,8,9,10 are the "bridge family", all inclined rope bridges)

In the background you see the pylons of bridge 7, its ramps can be seen under the Hafenbridge?s.

7.) Kniebr?cke, 1969 (cars),  linking downtown south to Oberkassel peninsula plus points west (Belgium, Netherlands)

No chance to get any nearer. D?sseldorf is very "green", so trees everywhere block sight from the streets and all of the accesses to the river lawns on my left bank of the river are blocked. Downtown, right bank, is pedestrians only, even me really didn?t dare to trespass there...
So I got this shot of the bike/pedestrians right bank access plus the pylons.
Right hand is the Villa Horion, seat of the prussian govenor Horion and all of his successors.. Today serving as state chancellary for Nordrhein. Westfalia?s prime minister , Mrs. Kraft.

8.) Oberkasseler Br?cke, 1978, (cars and tramways): This is the major local bridge
substituting the first 898 bridge which had been provisorily repaired in 1945.
On this site have been boat bridges since a couple of 100 years.
The bridge has been built 52 yards upstream, because the old bridge was desperately needed.
12 500 tons had than be pushed into position over frameworks. No insurance wanted to cover that risk.

In front of downtown one of the regular pleasure boats is sailing, nearly reaching Schlo?turm, the tower being the only part of the old castle. Illuminated is Tonhalle, a beautifully restored concert hall.

3.) Eisenbahnbr?cke Hamm: 4 railway tracks (fright and commuter, only bridge without pedestrian way), 1987. Substitutes the old 4- span arch bridge, only 2 rails had been repaired after 1945. In this shot, one commuter trainset surpassed a work train railcar Series Klv

Same bank, other side of the bridge, some yards from the dyke: they are harvesting flowers. Suburb of Hamm is still agriculture. City tries to keep this speciality.

4.) Lift bridge (harbour truck traffic, on the left) lifts on 4 feet like a table.
Good luck: No loading traffic on weekends.

5.) The "living bridge", ~2008 (pedestrians): spans one harbour bassin, at the middle we have a restaurant plus floating terrace. Only pleasure boat traffic here

  Much too late, but as forcasted, summer came back after 3 months of mostly covered and rainy weather!

 I took the time this weekend to take fotos of every D?sseldorf river Rhine bridge with my Plymouth. The trip was 44 mls and 6 hrs.

  It was far more difficult as expected to find any (let alone good or legal) place to have bridge + Ply on the same exposure. We usually take feet or Tramway or bike to move in D?sseldorf (more comfortable than looking for a parking place), so we never realised, that nearly all of the dyke access roads, while all tarmac, are bicycle, pedestrians or farm traffic only. Well, I trespassed and no one really was angry, most admired the car and no Police- if not, it could have been a tour 300,- ? worth of violations...
#1-11 is the river Rhine downstream sequence of bridges, my trip was not in that sequence.

1.) Fleher Br?cke: (Autobahn bridge), 1979. You see the girl reading left on the bench? When starting, we recognized us, she being a former patient, now living on the other side of town, unfortunately.

2.) 2.) Kardinal Frings Br?cke (S?dbr?cke): 1951 (Autos and tramways), first new one after the war destructions. And an example for milliards of families and retired people biking this beautiful weekend...
