5 quarts with filter, pressurized 7 pounds sounds right but would hate to say for certain as ihave not looked at my book....some folks just need to come to an understanding with the more modern vehicle of the 50's

It is my understanding that the radiator is non pressurized for these flatties.  Atleast my '40 is that way. 

Check with Dave at Fat Fendered Relics, he may have a dipstick tube and dipstick.  He has helped me out many times.

You are correct on the 30 weight, but it should be non detergent

Good Morning:

I have a friend that has owned a '51 businees coupe since the sixties and needs a little assistance.  This might need to be directed to the other forum, but maybe you can help me.

She needs a new radiator cap that we can purchase locally, but what should the pressure be?  It has a 7 pound cap now.  The engine is the original flat head six.

The dip stick tube is missing, so the dipstick goes all the way to the bottom of the oil pan.  Needs a replacement dip stick also.

How much oil does the engine take, we're assuming the oil should be 30 weight HD.  We might remove the oil pand and clean it out if I can determine if she has been using ND oil.
