if it helps you any...the battery supply line is inside the car beneath the dash..the wire running into the engine compartment is your path to ground which are the points in the distributor..

if you need to interrupt input supply power for the coil for your OD set up..you will need to make this connection beneath the dash..

How much clearer can it be  ???(I would think it goes to the wire from the coil, to the dist, this circuit would ground the ign shutting it down until released.)

Or are you confrused by the "front terminal" designation? (I agree it is ambiguous but not unfathomable)  Where is you coil mounted?  IS it not on the wire loom above the distributor? Can you explain how a different distributor can make a difference of which coil terminal to attach to?

Or perhaps this might help

PS no charge for searching two other forums for you for the schematic. ::)

Thanks for your input, but no one has yet answered my question, so let me make it clearer as to what info I need.

I want to know which of the coil's two terminals  is located in the engine compartment of those older Plymouths that only had terminal showing, while the other one was under the dash.

That will help me to figure out how to hook up my wires.  Part of my problems stems from the fact that somewhere along the way this car's Carburetor and Distributor were changed and are no longer the correct, original ones.  As such, the wiring, or rewiring, is a bit different from the factory diagrams, so repairs are that much more difficult.  Thanks.

The connection on the engine side of the coil goes to the points (basically a switch) to ground. And ground on the old 6v Chrysler products was positive. The negative post of the battery goes to the starter and from there to the ammeter which feeds the ignition switch.

The kickdown switches job is to kill the ignition momentarily, creating drive line slack in order to allow the Od soleoid to pull the OD out of gear. I would think it goes to the wire from the coil, to the dist, this circuit would ground the ign shutting it down until released. That would be my intuitive take on it.

I'm trying to fix an electrical problem with my OverDrive in my '54 Belvedere, but in reading the OD Wiring Diagram, it show a wire going from the "Kickdown Switch" to the "Dist (Front) Stud".  On those older Plymouths with the coil in the Firewall, which Stud, Pos or Neg, is in the Front?   ???   I'm stuck with my repairs until I can sort this mystery out.   Thanks.
