52 cranbrook with Red Head heater

I am not sure what to suggest for a defrost diverter but this heater is definitely at the low end of what your Cranbrook could have been equipped with.  Before spending a lot of time or money, have a look at the premium MoPar units that were available.  The toughest part to find for these is the cardboard under-hood duct which is available as a repro, and a nice piece too.

My 52 has a Red Head heater installed under the glove box area.  I turned it on the other day and it works great and doesn't appear to leak. I would like to connect up the defroster. The heater has an 1 7/8" by 2 7/8" to 2.5" round adapter on it. The defrost manifold also has a 2.5" round adapter.  I could install some 2.5" flex ducting but I would have defrost  on all the time. Any suggestions on how to connect up a manual defrost flipper valve? Any other info on this, I assume after-market? heater would be great.
