My 54 Plymouth is wired in the same manner..considered this a bit odd when I noticed it...checked it for serviceability before finishing off the floor with new carpet...never gave it another thought

Does anyone know why there is a single wire from the gas tank sender unit to the instrument panel is located under the carpeting? (not part of the bundle of wires that is routed from the instrument panel to the trunk via placement behind the part of the roof frame to which the lower edge of the headliner is attached? (I examined the trunk end of the bundle, and could not see a spare wire that might have been used as the gas tank sender circuit).

thanks
