Hi MRR, and all POC members, and guests. lol
Yes, I have the Maroon on, ended up with 3 coats, with sanding between. I have it all masked off right now, ready to put the black on moulding on, in the next hour. Waiting for the shop to heat up the metal a bit before I start. lol (I do learn) When I get the pin stripping done and the tires on I will post a picture....
Thanks for all the help

MRR41 COUPE

Glen , Are you near painting the coupe yet?

GWR

Glen, If you haven't already done so you need to go back out to the POC Home Page and click on reference materials. Go to the Judging guides for the Class I cars (1928-1929) and check down in section F. for paint colors. There is a lot of good information, but you may have it if you checked the First Decade site.

Just some info.

Amazing how much even primer makes things look better. Look forward to seeing the finished paint.

Thanks Chet...interesting site.   I did get a kick out of the shotgun pellets that hit the car door on the 29, the skin is so heavy there wasn't even one pellet that made a hole, just dents. LOL They don't make them like that any more..

That?s very true Glenn.  Once American business figured out.., if I build something that lasts forever then I limit my future sales.  From that thought planned obsolescence was born and we shortly moved to a use-it-once throw-it-away society.

Thanks Glenn,

If you are interested you can go to my 48 restoration web site and view pictures and narrative for all the work done starting in September of 2004.  I am hopping to get her on the road this summer.  Definitely an adventure that is still in progress.

Chet, the car sure looks good,

Here is a photo of my driver's side door where it had been jimmied prior to me getting it.  The eleven year old paint is beginning to show its wear also
  •

chetbrz

I only had one bullet hole in the driver?s side windshield.

6 years latter looking better?  Glenn Keep up the good work.

Looks as if you are making good progress.  Shotguns do one heck of a job then these old cars are used to sight them in.

I didn't have any shotgun holes, but I did have a spot on the driver's door where someone before I had the car tried to jimmy the door open, I left it that way to add character to my "Wayback Machine", but then again, it wasn't a big series of holes either

Keep us posted, always enjoy the photos of these old beauties coming back to life,
Bob

Hi all, I'm getting a little done on the Plymouth. Got the first coat of paint off, somebody was using this car to sight in their 12 gauge shotgun, did pretty good to, pretty much centered on the door, and chipped up the side window a bit. lol.  It has a little rust and a lot of dents that had a lot of fill, I'm bumping them out pretty good, and got the welder going, then smoothing them out with a bit of putty. Hope to put a little primer on by this weekend. lol.

It is always nice to see a car come back to life. What better way to do it than with pictures.
Good luck and enjoy your car when it is finished.

Hey Chet, The RED square box? Is the electric fuel pump, with the filter above it. That was on the car, it is an old system but I don't think it's as old as I am, or the car is. And it works good. Gas comes thru the filter, then the pump to the carberator. I have never seen the vacuum system that is supposed to be on here, but this is fine, I'm not looking to win any POC awards anyhow, just want to be proud of what I drive. I think I am going to have the paint on before spring. lol.  I keep saying that.............

Hi All, I think being sidetracked may have helped me get back on track, I think. LOL . At least the Engine compartment looks presentable. Now I can get back to work on the body and painting, may be done before spring yet, as slow as it is coming.....
Pic attached.
Thanks

Got side tracked again, I was looking at the engine compartment that PlymouthSpDeluxe  posted, and kept looking at the crappy engine compartment I have, and I started cleaning that up, being as I had the Radiator, etc already removed. And probable will try find the paint that CHS suggested, I am sure it won't be a nice as plymouthSpDelux has, but it sure has to be better than it is now. LOL It may be next fall before paint goes on. LOL. Any input will be appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi all, I got started on the 29 Coupe a couple weeks ago, planning on getting paint on in the spring. I took a bit of advice from this form, take pictures, and lots lol. I started by only planning on putting a paint job on, just to feshen it up a bit. Things do not always go as planned. First off the rear fenders came off, then the inner door trim and panels, and floor boards (working on the windows now) so I can just paint and not worry about the glass. Then the radiator trim and hood came off, along with the radiator, which went to the radiator shop to be checked out, then of course the engine compartment looks like h---, and the trunk deck needs to come off. Wouldn't be surprised if the body goes next. LOL Anyhow, I'll be surprised if I get paint on in the spring.....
Anybody that has any advise or info, or suggestions for me I would appreciate it. (OR wants to come help lol) attached a couple pictures of where I strarted and where I am at. (not in order lol)
Thanks,
SD Glenn
