Boys, the Ply is repaired, Sturday we take it for the holidays to the Island of Sylt for 2 weeks.
(Maybe no e- mails and internet?)
They were able to form the fenders nearly perfectly. Thanks David Pollock and Neil Riddle and Bernbaum?s , we
got nearly all the parts in time. Thanks, Boys!
The mouldings left side both have a little distance at one end from the fenders.
On the orignal side they too have, but less.

Painting maches perfectly, we hadn?t the time to do the whole car now.

A man and his wife that I use to know both nearly passed out while driving their roadster home from an all day car show... They had been out in the sun all day then headed home with the top down, they suffered from a mild sun stroke..  In short order they sold the roadster, purchasing a closed car as a replacement....Bill

Well boys, my assistant girls plus my wife too insisted to make a fresh check up, happily no problems found. My Doc thinks, that it were the hours in the sun with a black Plymouth cap on the brain  thus getting exhausted at unusual hours 4 pm. No traces orthopedically (neck etc.) found too - fortunately the hit was not very strong.

Thanks all for worrying on me!

Parts are in the air, David generously contributed a moulding as gift  and above all he pulled it out of its hide immediately, -thank You very much!-.

Bernbaum for nice costs had the balance less fender, even the stone shields with speed stripes  (much more $$$ than the usual ones from the parts book...)

And Neil Riddle offerd a fender, but I cannot get it here in time- the body wizard sees no big problems in fixing the existing fenders. Neil too immediately searched  the fender out of its treasures and mailed a pic. Thank You too very much!

Wow, that is a nasty incident to have happen. I am very glad no one was hurt which is the main thing. Sounds like you will have all the parts you need in no time at all and your car will be fixed as good as new. It's wonderful how forum members can step in when needed. David also has the trim piece I have been looking for for my '53 Plymouth for postage cost. What a great forum member!

GO... Glad to hear that other than your inner pride, the only damage was to the Plym.
My brother had the same thing happen to him a few years ago, fell asleep at the wheel in mid-day.... running his '54 Chevy off the road.... No damage to his car, just his pride.  Medical test revealed that he had a sleep disorder that was preventing him from getting a good nights rest.
I might have a good left rear, left hand thread brake drum.... One is on a '39 axle the other is on a '49/50 axle.... I will check them out today.....Bill

For Speed: mine even makes 80 mls without overdrive (which is planned for 2012)
I have the engine rebuilt with perfect bearings and pistons , crankshaft and rods are precision equilibrated and balanced.

The engine makes nearly no vibrations over 3000 rpm! Made an enormous difference in rpm performance

Now I mailed a couple of forum members for a front fender, shipped by fastest air fright.
My mechanics will fix until Friday, 30th July, if parts come in fast....
31st July we have Ply holidays planned- I hope to meet the schedule!

Sorry to hear of your mishap. The important thing is your alright. I know you are a regular on this site, and you are always willing to help others. You really drive your car at 70mph? I am afraid I would blow the motor in my 55 Plymouth. My best to you and hope your car has a speedy recovery.

First and foremost, I am glad to hear that no one was seriously injured. Please to take advice posted earlier about having a doctor look you over if there is any chance of injury. Sometimes you can sustain an injury and be unaware of it.

A 1950s car with, say a 3.9:1 rear end ratio and 16-6.00 tires, would be turning over about 3200 RPM at 70 MPH. So that is well within the abilities of the Plymouth L6 engine. I have run for hours on end in my 1933 with its 4.375:1 rear end and 17-5.25 tires at 60 MPH which is the same RPM. Not sure I'd be comfortable with the stock brakes or non-speed rated tires if running at 70 MPH for very long but that is a different story.

David, Yes, I need the moulding (12-15-2, left), it is pressed flat.
I fear the sharp kinks in the front fernder prevent fixing too, the rear may work. I hope to hear the body man this morning.  
I will need:

fixing hardwareif available (for moulding)
front light bezel (8-50-315, left)  
its chamber
lens (8-50-335 left)
taillight bezel (8-55-158, left)
rear fender shield (12-23-4)
reflector (8-55-220, left)
head light ring ("door" 8-34-40) - maybe I will let this lightly scratched ring plus tail light bezel as a reminder....

(and a left hand left threaded rear brake drum)

Will your body man be able to fix the fender and headlight ring, or will you have to get the parts from the states?

Looks like you will need a tail light bezel on the driver's side also.

Saturday, returning alone from a beautiful trip to Rheinberg Classic Festival, 60 mls away, at 4:30 p.m. I fell asleep at 70 mph on the Interstate. No warning, I was not suspicious because having eaten, drunk  2 liters of water, slept well the night before, not at all tired, - anyhow I rammed the crash barrier.

I?m alife, unhurt, poor Ply got it, but only sheet metal. Well insured, will cost me only 500 EUR.

I?m thankful for this good luck... no other car near me, no curb stone to hit the front wheels etc.

Maybe Ply will not be ready for our Sylt Island holidays in 2 weeks, but considering the proximity to meet fate, I m very satisfied.

But how to avoid, no warnings seconds before. unsuspicious circumstances..
