I checked my old Mopar parts book for the glove box lock applications....
37-39 Plymouth P7-P8 G.Bx lck part number is.... 798636   This is the part assy I have.
40     Plymouth P9-P10 G. Bx lck part number is.. 876298

Looking in the parts book shows that the parts are completely different... It also looks like the '40 Plym lck assy is a one year, 1940 item..

I have a new old stock lock assembly for a '39 Plym P8, it looks very similar to the one shown in your picture. I have a '36/46 parts book, I will check the application and get back to you....Bill

What a chore this has turned out to be.  Trying to locate a push button for the glove box door on my P10 Coupe.  I have called everyone that has an ad that I've seen and have hit a deadend.  Does anyone out there in Plymouth land know of a '40 parts car that might have the button.  I bought a new tumbler and key, hoping it would work, but it didn't.

I've attached a picture of what I have.  The button only assembly will not accommodate the new tumbler.

So..!  Either a button only or a lock housing would work for me.

Thank you in advance..  Buddy...
