I have an old long large handled screw driver that i heated and bent for the purpose.  never over tighten.  use a wrench if it too tight on other cars.

Maybe I was not clear, but my question is what is your favorite tool to tighten the distributor when you are adjusting the timing.  Thanks!

A) remove the vaccuum advance conection.

B) remove coil to dist wire at coil.

C) mark the dist location in relation to the block,

D) remove the dist cap set aside

E) mark location of rotor in relation to the dist body

F) remove the distributor and service it on the bench or in the vise.

G) reverse steps to reinstall

The rotor drive can only be installed 2 ways, correctly and 180 off.

Servicing out of the car is the only way to do it properly and which give you a proper view of your work.

I'm curious about what your favorite tool is to adjust the distributor in a P15?  If the distributor placement is as restrictive in other models, please add your two cents as well.

I have been using a wrench to snug up the distributor, but a screwdriver while timing it.  I have not found the perfect screwdriver yet.  The smaller ones that clear the frame have a small slot (3/8"?).  The larger slotted screwdrivers are either way too short or way too long.

Maybe I should be using a socket wrench with a short extension?
