Frankly,? I think I am among the majourity of POC members in that we have little interest in competing at a national POC meet, and would prefer that the nearest region's meetings and events be more about cars and driving them than sharing pictures of the grandkids and getting a bite to eat.

I agree with Capt. Neon. I want to meet with fellow enthusiasts who are not afraid to drive to events  (then show photos of grandkids) I think the Plymouth Owners Club should spotlight ALL PLYMOUTHS, lets face it guys last I checked..... they don't make Plymouths anymore!

I appreciate your sharing about Mr. DeSimone.  I must ask, however, by what standard do you quantify that the Santa Maria national meet was a "huge success?"  To make such a statement, IMHO, means that not only did it meet and exceed all expectations, but that it eclipses all prior meets and to continue to call it a "huge success" that it has not yet been surpassed.

I would appreciate the input from those that have attended other national meets as to why or why not they would state that the national meet held in California was a "huge success."

I guess it is time to get my soap box out and do a little campaigning for Nick...
Nick is currently President of the Golden Coast group (California). He was President of the group in 2006 when the National Met was held in Santia Maria, CA. In a small way I helped Nick with with the 5/06 met. Nick was very organized, which insured that the first National Met held on the west coast was a huge success.
I believe Nick would make a great National President of the POC....Bill

Just to throw in my 2 cents, Dick Silhol, in addition to being our President in Dairyland Region was the driving force behind our Summer Meet this year.? As Chairman he supervised the Committees that worked the event, making sure all went well and worked hard to foresee potential problems and ways to avoid them. I would venture to guess that no other member in our club at this time could have done a better job getting the events and tours organized and carried out.? Of course some things could have been done better(always true) but having someone organized in charge and who is committed to success is a big help.? Dick has done a good job with Dairyland as President as well, encouraging a search for new members resulting in our Region now having more registered members that ever before in our history.? We have had a resurgence in interest in Meetings(averaging 15- 20 members and guests per month) and have had several exceptional events at meetings this year which I think is due to the increased desire of members new and old to participate.? He also is behind the idea currently being discussed to have more 2 day events since many of our members drive extended distances(2-4 hours one way) to attend meeings.? Now obviously Dick is not the only reason that Dairyland is? booming? but good leadership goes a long way to help.? I believe Dick would make a Great National President.? And he is my friend.? Maybe this will help people understand a little more about him.? ? He also owns a 1950 P20 Special Delux Convertable. Also an award winner.

I don't have the write ups in the magazine yet, but from the roster here are the cars those individuals have (in case that makes any difference):

Nick DeSimone has a 1940 P-10 DeLuxe Business Coupe.
Richard A Silhol has a 1947 P-15C Special DeLuxe Two Door
Carl Vanbibber has a 1960 Valiant V200 Four Door

Does any one know anything about the three guys running for POC President?? The little bio that the three candidates supplied really doesn't answer any questions that I want to know.

Nick DeSimone makes mention of getting regions to work together, and to get younger people to join the POC, but absolutely no specifics.? I'm not even a member of any of the regions closest to me (all a minimum of 3 hours drive in my '46), but am of the younger set that Nick claims a desire to become members.? I have been a member of the POC for over 22 years.? If the national meet held in California is any indication, the POC dues may become too expensive for this Missouri redneck to consider maintaining membership much longer if Nick DeSimone has his way.? In 2002, when finances got so tight that I chose not to renew any organisational memberships, the POC was the one exception as I enjoyed receiving the Plymouth Bulletin too much to give it up.

The other two guys (Richard Silhol & Carl V. VanBibber) just tell us their work resume and tell us nothing about the vision they have for the future of the POC, and how to maintain membership levels for an orphan car make's namesake car club.

I'm pretty confident that all three of these men are familiar to some one on this forum as all three are recent regional presidents of the POC.

Right now, I am planning on writing in Ed Juneau from Minneapolis.? As I at least know him, has some interest in the job some day, is about my own age (30s), and likes the same era MoPar vehicles that I do (1940s & 50s).? Please give me good reasons why to vote for or against any of my four choices.
