Cluster Gear

In any of those 1930s CPDD trannies I've restored ,I've found the gears and shafts to be bulletproof. What has always needed replacing are the input and output shaft ball bearings. The shafts literally wobbled around in their housings. I've never replaced anything else except gaskets and the floating power mount.

thanks for taking the time to look.

I still have the tranny in the Plymouth, so don't really know what the problem is other than being told that it could be the cluster gear or the bearings.  I wonder, without looking at the actual problem, what would go first, the bearings or the clluster gear?

I was wrong!  Parts books show the 1935-39 transmissions as being the same.  1940 is all new....

Bob - I'm out of town for a few days but I think they are the same, I think the only change was to "column" shift...I will look at my parts books when I get home

Is the cluster gear in a 1939 flloor shift tranny interchangeable with a 1940 Plymouth column shift tranny?
