I have never had my 1933 PD up to 75 MPH. Based on my calculations it might just be possible to get that car going that fast. Maybe someday if I feel suicidal I'll give it a try. :)

My max cruise speed is just above 60 and on tours we are generally doing more like 45 or 50. And given that type of driving my 76 year old car with original (but rebuilt) 190 cu.in. engine running through the stock 4.375:1 rear end is has given me a bit over 16 MPG in the last 740 miles of driving.

That sounds like decent gas mileage for a almost 60 year old Plymouth without overdrive. I get 13 plus miles per gallon on my '36 Plymouth with 110000 miles on the engine. As far as I know, the engine has never been rebuilt.

for me this seems perfect (16,3 liters for 100 km), as I used it in hilly country and / or Autobahn speeds
(odometer max. reading 84 mph (140 km/h), but GPS unit measuring only 75 mph (120 km/h)).
Pertronix ignitin unit seems to save (correction) 9,1% gas, as no other engine changes were made 2008.
