Got the lumber thing down just fine, but this metal stuff is all greek to me.

Luckily one of our club members is a class A+ machinist and he made me all new bushing for the complete clutch throwout shaft assembly. Walked into his basement and there had to be at least four different laths, a couple of bridgeport type machines and all kinds of specialty stuff. Cleaned up the shaft and made new bushings. It is great. They were standard .750 inside, but a wierd outside measurement. Made hisr own collets and away we went.

Thanks to everyone.

Sure wish this site was quicker and more contributors.

Gary,

Even in the world of precision mechanics you need to reference a Machinist Guide Book for literal dimensions.  Even standard screw sizes have different inner and outer dimensions to allow some tolerance for connection.  The major and minor dimensions of a standard tap & die as set by the American Standard conventions.  Also don?t loose sight of tolerance just about everything is usually +- .005

Example a 2?x4?x8? stud is really literally 1.5? x 3.5? x 8?

Just an FYI, Chet?

Dumb Dumb me. Yes the pilot bushing is the stndard .750X1" I got new ones and put mic on them and the measured .748X.946". Guess they really arn't 1"

But that doesn't solve the clutch throwout shaft sizes. We are having to turn them down because they only measure .89 on the outside.

Will try to get those done this weekend.

I am not sure but I think the clutch pilot bushing is the same for 1928-50 Ply, Dodge and Desoto.

I hope this helps,

According to my measurements it appears the size should should be 19mm by 24mm which is not a common size.

If I measure in SAE it comes out .748 on the pilot shaft which presumably would be .750 inside. But the crankshft hole, done with an inside caliper, comes out at .9845. Is this supposed to be 1.00 which would give a .750X1.0" which would be a common size.

I have been screwing with this for way to long and want to get it back together.

Anyone that knows this answer, if you know the sizes of the clutch throwout arm bushings please advise at the same time. I think we have that covered, but any help is appreciated.
