Bill, PM with email sent for pix - many thanx.? Yeah, I thought late-30s ChryCo bodies are pretty much the same.? I rechecked my visors and they are indeed 17".? I got them from a guy who said they are from a 39 Dodge Luxury Liner he is parting out.? They appear to be original - rectangular with rounded corners in the aforementioned dimensions.? Covered in a tan flannel-like material - and what looks to be 70 years worth of dirt/stains!? Edge binding and the metal caps at the ends of it appear factory.? One of the covers is ripped so I can see the "guts".? Masonite covered with a layer of laminated black cardboard - the latter is similar to door panel board but not as thick.? Brackets as previously described - rods are L-shape with tension spring behind the bracket.? I suspect the extra length may be due to the Dodge's V-windshield, whereas the P6 is flat - although the P8 is also V, so who knows?

Lew,? I know some Ford stuff, mostly small body parts, will fit Mopars - they probably had some of the same suppliers "back in the day."? Didn't know about the visors though - thanx for the tip.

The same inverted triangular bracket for the '35 and '36 Ford closed cars fits the '36 Plymouth triangular shape, but the Ford visor is 16" x 7". If the '38 bracket hole pattern is similar to the '36, then there would be a fit.The (3) screw holes are approx. 1 3/4" down and  1 1/2" across the top.
Le Baron Bonney in Amesbury , Mass has the new Ford drivers and passenger side ones with nice chrome brackets which can be covered with fabric to suit at reasonable cost or if one's car only comes with a driver's side and the passenger side is desired.

All of the bodies on DPCD built cars starting in about 1936 are basicly the same because Chrysler pioneered the use of major body parts throughout their entire line.
The Chrysler people don't like to lump the "lowly Plymouth" into the same class as the almighty Chrysler, yet in fact, when you are sitting in a Plymouth, you are sitting in a Chrysler, especially in the Air Stream series of the mid/late 1930's.
When it comes to the open cars, it appears that the body numbers for most Briggs bodied DPCD built bodies are consecutive.
I would venture the guess that if your visors are 3" longer, the visor portion is not Chrysler. Your description of the bracket is the same as the brackets I have, very similar to the Plymouth Shield.
If you would like a pix of the visors I have for upholstery pattern, send me your email address and I will fire you off a pix....Bill

That helps - thanks.

I'm sure the brackets are same as Plymouth.  They're an inverted, elongated (isosceles) triangle similar to the Plymouth shield.  They are a dull chrome, or rather, nickel plate, I'd guess. And they fit the bolt holes on the car.

The visors are the same width as yours but 3" longer - strange, as I'd think Plymouth and Dodge bodies would be close, if not identical, in width.  They need recovered anyway so I probably can shorten them.  Thanks again.

I have a pair or visors I removed from a '39 Plym P8 sedan a couple of years ago. The car appeared to be an unmolested original car.
The visors are 14" x 5-1/2".? The brackets are/were a dull chrome and are a 'stylized' triangle shape....Bill

My P6 BC lost its sun visors somewhere along the line.  I found a pair from a 39 Dodge - the brackets look identical to Plymouth and fit the bolt holes over the windshield.  The visors look like they fit when they're up but overlap the rearview mirror about 2" when down.  Anybody know if that's the way they're supposed to be?  Or maybe Dodge visors are longer (they're 17")?
