???? What is the process of finding the 426 wedge a car was built with.? Is there a resource for matching original parts to its original car.? I am new at this so pardon my ignorance.? Is this like a needle in the haystack search?? Thanks for any help.

I don't think Plymouth started serializing engines matched to the VIN untill 1968.? The best you could do would be to match the engines cast and assemble dates to the cars.? I believe it should be something like within 2 months prior to the cars build date to be "correct".? After 68 there would be a partial VIN on the oil pan rail.? I've seen some 1968 with the partial VIN number on the bell housing mating surface.? The cast date will be cast in on the side of the block and the assemble date will be stamped on the pad in front of the driver's side cyl. head on a 426 or any other RB engine.

Wanted to add that on earlier cars at least my 1929 Plymouth the engine number is exactly the same as the number stamped into the driver's side forward frame rail but those numbers are different than the serial number or body number on the medallion on the dash.  I could be full of baloney but that's what I learned while trying to find a correct 383 for my 67 sattellite.

I have found the holy grail "almost".  Gave up on the notion of finding the actual 65 Sport Fury but did find an exact replica only better.  A 1965 Plymouth Sport Fury convertible with the 426 wedge and a factory four speed.  Not the original engine but it is the type of engine originally in the car.  Very lucky find.  Can't wait to have it shipped. :) :) :)

I know what it is to want an old car back, especially a mid 60's Plymouth.  Around 1970 I owned a 66 Fury III 2 door Hardtop with a 383 and a 4 speed.  I loved that car and still miss it today.  If I could find it I would buy it in a minute.  Good luck on your search.

 ???  I am searching for my father's 1965 Sport Fury red w/ black interior.  He sold it to a Mr. Whitlow in Victoria, VA in 65 or 66 and he kept it in storage until his death in the early 80s.  His family sold it some short time later.  I have no VIN or insurance info to trace it with so I'm just looking to get lucky.  If I have no luck I will search for a look a-like.
