Brass parts and carb cleaner

take a piece of brass shim stock of a brass wood screw and put it in your solvent.  This will give you and idea or the reativity of the combination/  Should be ok as carbs contain a lot of brass, but check it first.  You could also give vineagar a try.  (5 % acetic acid)

I have some brass fittings with some crud in the passages that i can't budge.  If i soaked them in carb cleaner-which has methyl chloride as an ingredient-would it harm the brass?  I hate to pick too hard with a steel pick for fear of messing up the threads and scoring the brass.
