1940 sealed healight..? and Black-out covers..?

Hi Bob.... From my what I have found so far is .. The dealership ended in 1947... I have contacted some of the "De Soto guys" and they are trying to find out ... Thank-you Mavair...! If you go to ebay and type in 1940 Plymouth there is a set of "used "lights with chrome and they do not have the nubs if you are looking...

Now if someone can let me know about the  Hughes Motor Mart  in Mass .. The puzzle will be solved! The Shield I got work for the lights without the top nubs as Mavair stated..  But I was Able to use my new  style lights by using a dermal tool and grinding flush the "nubs" Thanks again .... DANiel

The original headlamps were manufactured by Corcoran Brown Lamp Division (Cincinnati, Ohio). The company was a division of Auto Lite.

If by nubs, the raised glass "nubs" on the edge of the lens, there was one centered at the bottom. Lamps made by other companies during this period (e.g. Westinghouse) had none of these nubs. I don't know if the one on the Corcoran Brown lamp had any special purpose?

I have not been able to find any NOS sealed beam Corcoran Brown lamps. If someone knows where, I would be interested. The places I have found that specialize in Corcoran Brown lamps only deal in the older non-sealed type.

I found a neat aftermarket accessories..  do so brings up ? 's.... First  I know 1940 was first year for sealed beams.. but did the first ones have nubs (three of them ) used for the headlight aiming suction type. or where they just sealed and plain no nubs on them.. And if you would know what brand they where.... GE etc.etc......?

Second ? is has any body ever heard of a Dealership called...  Hughes Motor Mart... Cambridge  Mass.  I know there was a dealership by that name in the 40's  I am trying to figure out if they had a special made for there dealership "only" black-out shields the type WWll military and civilian cars used in the states ..   they also say Hughes head-lamp Dim-out Shield on them .. as we know Howard Hughes made a lot of item during war time . and I was wondering if he manufactured these for the dealership or possibly was Hughes Motor Mart  some how is related to Howard Hughes...  I have such a pair and would like to know more about them.........Thanks for the info...
