I concur.  However, he may be the only person who will have new cylinders if you need new ones. My recommendation would be to resleeve them if it will help you avoid dealing with Bernbaum.

I live in the phoenix area and I have not had luck finding a local shop to resleeve mine wheel cylinders or master cylinder. I tried to rebuild mine everything linked. I then took mine to Arizona Brake and clutch to rebuild them. All I wasted was gas because they don't do sleeving. So don't even waste your time trying them. I would think  that any machine shop should be able to do this if they knew the  gap specs but apparently that is not the case.  Let me know if you do find a local shop that will do this for a resonable price. I am going to call brakecylinder, they seem reasonable from their website.

My only other comment would be to be cautious of Bernbaum. From my experience you have better odds of not being screwed in Vegas and at least vegas will not be rude to you when they screw you.

Depends on the condition of the cylinders. If they are worn to too large a diameter or if they are pitted such that honing out the pits will result in too large a diameter then yes, they should be sleeved. How much is "too large"? I have heard that it is a few thousandths of an inch but I can't find my source for that recollection. Apparently the failure mode is that the rubber cup starts to extrude into the space between the piston and the cylinder and is damaged.

I have sent my cylinders to http://www.brakecylinder.com/ based on the comments and experiences of some people I know here locally who have dealt with the proprietor in the past. At present he has a five week backlog, so it will be a while before I see how the parts come back.

I used Then and Now for my last wheel cylinders and was very pleased with the service and communication. I've also had good results from both Roberts and Bernbaum.

I just ordered a master cylinder rebuild kit and a couple wheel cylinder kits from Roberts. Arrived yesterday (ordered Tuesday). The rubber looks good and is not stiffened with age so I am fairly confident that they are relatively new and haven't been sitting on the shelf forever.

I haven't yet installed them yet (the cylinders went out for sleeving on Wednesday and it will be a while before I get them back), but the rubber looks good to me.

I've used Bernbaum for 1952 Plymouth parts and have had excellent service.  I haven't tried Roberts.
