Check out this thread over at the H.A.M.B.  http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=189638

The guy took some early Plymouth artillery rims and custom machined them into a wider rim. They look awesome.  There is post in the thread from a guy who offers to take your cores and make wider wheels.  Very cool!

Also thought it'd be worth mentioning that I met the guys from wheel vintiques at the LA roadster show (last year) and also at SEMA and they offer a custom artillery wheel but its fully billet and doesn't use a core, and it's a 15inch rim.

Good luck!

There was a very good article in the Chrysler Restorers Club of Australia how 34 Dodge rims were converted to 15 inch with a decent width.  It was necessary , after taking out the rivets and separating the center to mount the center in a lathe and take about .010 off the ends of the spokes.  The article even gave the part number for the fifteen inch outer rim which was an aftermarket item for hot rodders. The number did not take me anywhere here in North America, but I did not persist. The original center was then pressed into the outer rim, trued up and welded.
The final result on the Aussie Dodge looked great and allowed the owner to run on modern 15 inch radials with an authentic looking wheel and proper hubcaps.  I still have that article but it will only turn up by accident.  I cannot really add any more other than to say it is possible.

I want to put a wider tire on the rear of my 34 PE and am wondering if anyone has every taken an artillery rim and made it wider? If so, how did you do it, what wider rim band did you use, and did you do it yourself?

Thanks much for the help.
