33 PD Horn Problem

Thanks Todfitch I can always depend on your lightning fast and very accurate information. Thanks again for the information. I hope I don't have to pull a new wire. The broken wire has one of those blue connector thingys you pinch to connect the wires. I am hoping I can get it off and make the repair with the wires that are there.

The bezel on the horn button unscrews. Just press down firmly on it and turn (not the button itself but the bezel).

My bezel has a piece missing from where I tried prying it off before I got smarter.

And if you horn is working you will want to pull the fuse on the back of the ammeter before removing the bezel unless, of course, you like hearing loud noises while you work.

Thankyou for the responses. I probably can't get to it for a few weeks, but if I have to pull a new wire, how do I remove the horn button to do so? Again, any help would be appreciated.

If the wire is too short you can use it to pull a new wire into place. Let us know when you fix it.

Yep, the wire down the center of the steering column is the horn wire. It goes to the horn button which, when pressed, grounds the wire.

After having my 1933 PD coupe painted last year, the trumpet horns quit working. I haven't had much time to trace down the problem; however, I noticed a wire coming out at the end of the steering column broken. It only protrudes about 1/2 inch. I can see the other end of the wire hanging down nearby. Is this the horn wire coming down the steering column from the horn button on the steering wheel? I thought that perhaps after the paint job I am not obtaining a proper ground. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
