Correct Paint Color

I talked to a seasoned radiator man in town.  He said that you should use radiator paint because it transfers heat better than high temp engine paint.  IN the old days, the only radiator paint was a tar like substance.  Now however there is a good latex radiatir paint that transfers heat well.  Since the 29U has no water pump, I would think you would want the radiator to work as well as possible.  I would take it to a reputable radiator shop and have them paint it.

Regarding the head, any good silver engine paint is acceptable to the club, so far as I know.  Chrysler does still sell MOPAR silver engine enamel, but it is hard to fine, since it comes in a case, and no Chrysler dealer wants a case of it on their shelf.  The only one I know that carries it is Andy Bernbaum.  I have never tried it.  I used POR-15 Aluminum engine enamel and am very satisfied.

Don't know or care how correct it is but I used a semi-gloss chassis black paint on my radiator after POR-15 black rust preventive and POR-15 rust preventive silver followed by their silver high temp engine paint on my engine. You can see their products at www.por15.com
I have used their products for 10 years and nothing has rusted since. If you go that way read their instructions and follow them. You need surgical gloves. If you get it on your skin you will wear it for two weeks.

It is my understanding that there is actually a paint specifically for radiators that has better heat transfer characteristics than normal paint. You might want to check with a local radiator repair shop.

I am putting an original radiator back into my 29-U.? The radiator has been repaired and ready to be painted.? My assumption is a Flat Black paint.? Does anyone know if this is correct or incorrect for my year and Modal.? I figured that if I am going to paint it I might just as well paint it with the correct color & type.

Also any suggestions on a paint type for the head.? I know it is suppose to be silver.? Since I was draining the radiator to replace it that I might just as well pop off the head.? I wanted to take a look at the cylinder walls and figured that I would bring the engine compartment a little closer to the original look.
