New POC National President

I'd like to congradulate Bob on his victory as president. I had the good fortune to work the judging at the Santa Maria national with Bob and can attest that he is a great guy. His passion for the club is widely known. I wish him the best and if he ever has a need from my services I do hope that he won't hesitate to call on me. I also want to convay my thanks to Phil and Nick for taking the time to run for office. It's guys like these that make a club like this a great place to be a member.

I would like to add my congratulations to Bob Kerico.  I was present at the prejudging introduction meeting for the Spring 2007 Santa Maria, CA Meet.  Bob Kerico clearly expressed his committment to move forward with the needed positive changes for the POC future.  When someone volunteers to do the right thing for the right reasons, give them the vote and credit.

To those who did not win, thank you for making the effort - many clubs die because no one cares - to have three people running for president shows a healthy club in my estimation.

I feel the POC is not just one of the best national clubs - it is "THE BEST" national auto club and I hope it stays that way forever!

I think Nick's negative campaigning and general attitude sunk his chances of being elected.? I think most of us like the relative autonomy our local regions have and don't like the idea of a national organisation trying to micro-manage our every day affairs.? I think the POC has been doing a great job at reactivating and starting new regions.? I'd love to see the North Iowa Region get going again.? The POC is one of the best national car clubs.? I'm a firm believer that if something isn't broken don't fix it.? I also think large change is hard to swallow.?

Like any large national group, one cannot expect to go from little known local chairman to being the top dog.? I realise that Nick got some press with his Golden State Region hosting a national meet.? If I lived close by, though, I probably would have refrained from participating in that particular national meet.? I found the entry fees to be a bit too rich for my blue collar blood.? I also felt that many of the scheduled events were a bit too high-brow for my redneck upbringing.

Bob Kerico was re-elected.  Phil Volpe was second, Nick DeSimone was third in voting.  Close between # 2 & # 3 but don't have the vote totals with me.
