Number Stamped on Firewall

These numbers appeared on the firewall for many years - and to this day, I haven't found anyone
that can offer an explanation as to why or what they stood for!   JB

I had the body of my '41 P12 coupe soda blasted. I was surprised to see a new number on the firewall. This number does not match the engine number (the engine number does match the number stamped on the left rear frame above the wheel) or the body number or the seriel number. Does anyone know the purpose of this number? (See photo)
