The 32nd edition of Hollander's states that MAW4041 is for a '46-'48 Dodge and that it will interchange with all of the folowing:


MZ4133? ('46-'48 Plymouth)

MCH6101? ('49-'51 Dodge? &? '49-'51 Plymouth)

MCH6202? ('52? Dodge Canadian? and '52 Plymouth Canadian)


MCH6205? ('52-'54 Dodge? 6 cylinder & '52-'54 Plymouth)

MCH6206? ('53-'55 Dodge? V-8)

MCH6302? ('55 Plymouth? V-8)

MCH6305? ('55 Dodge & Plymouth? 6 cylinder, also '46-55 Dodge passenger, U.S. and Canadian, also '54-'55 Dodge truck V-8
? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?except, R, T, and V series, also '46-'55 Plymouth? U.S. & Canadian, also Dodge truck early '56? 6 cyliinder with Powerflite transmission with '300' series engine (6 volt).

Thanks for the info, the 54 starters turn over faster than the 48. I have a 54 Plymouth which turns over slow and suspect it is an earlier starter.

MAW4041 was used in 1946-8 Dodge. if it is the Bendix type and not the early clutch type it will fit . the specs for it are the same as what is in you 54. looking in the parts book it was used on the P15 plymouth as well

Sorry the number I posted was wrong, it should of been #1113121. It is a Chrysler Canada autolite starter MAW 4041 ser#110000581. Sorry for the wild chase, hope you can still help. :-[ :-[

If its a  starter for  a chrysler family car it should be an autolite but it should still have Chrysler corporation on the ID tag if it has and is 6 volt it will fit your car even if it is 1949 -till when they changed to 12V . the one i have in my 54 diplomat is out of a 52 and i have 3-4 others of different years for spares. just be carefull its not a 12V as they will also fit straight in . if its 12V it will have a green tag , 6V is red

My Hollanders 1654 - 1966 list starter  manufacturer?s numbers. If I understand well, 1113321 falls in between 1113308 (listed as interchange No. 626) and 1113456 (interchange No 769).
Interchange No 626 shows Autocar 48.54 w/R6-572 and 602 engine, plus some REO, Federal and Ward-La-France engines.
No 769 is for International RD 406, 450 and 501 engines, 12V.

So You better try carefully , but the Holander theory doesn?t show a fit for Your Ply 54.

After reading the post by Wayne S., I dug out my 3 Hollanders, which cover from 1928-1965.

There was a 1113308, which is for Autocar, Federal, Reo, and Ward LaFrance, and a

1113456, which is for an I-H? RD-406, but no 1113321 in between the above numbers.

My Hollanders thru 1956 list the highest starter number as 110xxxxx, from this I would assume that the starter is post 1956. I don't have a exchange manuel later than 56 sorry. Mabey someone has a later Hollanders and can tell you.

I checked my various MOTOR's manuals, which cover the years 1935-1982.

From 1935 through 1961, the original equipment starter motors had numbers with two or three letters, followed by a dash (-) and 4 numbers, such as:

MCH-6205 for a '53-'54 starter.

Starting in 1961, one starter was? MDT-7002, one was 1889100 and one was 1889200.

From then on through 1982, the starters had all numbers in their identification, but none of them started with 1113xxx.

I have a starter pt# 1113321, told it is for a 1954 Plymouth, but the number dos"nt show in my books. Can anyone help? ???
