Blow-by blues ? Gas mileage??

I can not comment on the article in the POC Bulletin relative to PCV's but I can and will give you some imput about adding a PCV to and engine.

In the "Old Poc Forum" there was a lot of dialog about correcting blow by adding a Positive Crankcase Ventillator (PCV) . A PCV will not stop excessive blow by because this condition is a sign of an engine that is worn out. The addition of a PCV will minimize condensation within the engine and thereby make it run cleaner because there will be less contamination of the oil. An engine that has been retrofitted with a PCV can in some cases be run with a leaner fuel mixture, but probably not lean enough to notice any improvement in fuel mileage. It has been my experience that engines that have PCV's run longer and seem to have less upper cylinder wear, possible because the reintroduction of the crankcase blowby into the intake system acts as an upper cylinder lubricant.

I have added PCV's to all of my old cars........ 36 Ford, 55 T-Bird, 57 T-Bird and 59 Ford F100.  All of these vehicles are running original type engines.  My 39 Plym has a 2001 engine with a PCV.....Bill

Can any one shed more light on this article found in the May-June 1996 No. 218 Vol. 37, No.3 The Plymouth Bulletin mag. It is about putting a pcv valve on the Plymouth flat six engine, and had the parts that are needed to make it work. Any of you out there put one of these things on aPyl six car?? and if so did it work for you?? would you do it on another car?? also did it give you better gas mileage??? That is why I am thinking of putting one on my car, for the gas mileage part.. If anyone has some more tips on getting better mile out of a Hydrive car let me know for this car is and will be my driver. Thanks for any info that you all may have.. ??? ???
