;)Thanks John for the information. I have tried the largest rebuild shop in the area. They say the rewinding companies are about out of business on doing these custom jobs. Besides that they would be so expensive .  I just got an email from a member who says he would trade another part for the spare one he has that needs to be rebuilt. I hope the coils are o k in that one. Thanks again, Bill

Wow.? That would be a Delco-Remy 947-B.? These were used only on the 1928-30 Plymouths, 1927 Chrysler Model 50 and 1928 Chrysler Model 52.? My interchange manual shows the field coils do not interchange with any other generators.
?
I would think you might be able to find a generator/starter shop that could rewind the coils.? You could check in Hemmings Magazine, there are a number of companies that advertize that they specialize in restoring antique generators.

If you want a find a salvageable generator that you could pull the coils from, you might check with:

1) Carson's, 235 Shawfarm, Holliston, MA 01746, PH: 508-429-2269.
2) Special Interest Autos, 1-800-634-2469 (US only) 580-226-0270
3) Ben Ostrander, Site 11 Box 52 RR 1, De Winton Alta Canada? TOL OXO (Check Hemmings for his phone number)?
4) Ray Ganser, Box 357, Provost, AB, Canada T0B-3S0; e-mail: ? (Not always in the best of condition, but he sends pictures.)
5) Collectors Auto Supply. 1510 Main Street, Oroville, WA, 98844? Email:
Toll Free 1-888-772-7848,? Phone: 1-250-767-1974
6) Vintage Auto Parts, 800-426-5911, Denver, CO; visit us at: www.vapinc.com

Good Luck!

Hi all, It took a little bit of figuring out thanks to Mark, but I am on this new site now. Does anyone know where I can locate a 6 volt generator that fits a Maxwell 4cyl and 28 Plymouth engine. It is a delco remy. My old one went bad on the last 4 cyl tour in Ohio in Sept. and the field coils are bad. New ones can not be made up anymore. The shop has had it since Sept. and now they told me they can't locate any coils. Any suggestions. Thanks Bill
